About

As a therapist, my role is to support and collaborate with my client in order to identify and address what stands in the way of feeling more satisfied, more self-confident, and more connected to others. This might include insight-based exploration of past experiences and their current effects on one’s life, or it might be more valuable for a client to focus on current coping strategies. With couples and families, I often work to identify the relational sources of communication breakdowns. A client’s or family’s specific treatment plan will be based on their specific needs. Ultimately, I want to help my clients to be able to be themselves in a way that feels safe, satisfying, and connected to others.

My clinical orientation is heavily influenced by theories of attachment, relational neuroscience, and family systems. I am also greatly informed by my experience working with adults and children with complicated histories of abuse and trauma.

I work with adults, children, couples, and families. I have a particular interest in helping parents to better understand the underlying causes of their children’s most challenging and difficult behaviors. I also have experience working together with parents and infants/toddlers to support parental attunement and a more secure attachment dynamic.

Certifications and Expertise

I was the clinical director at a women’s shelter in Los Angeles, where I worked with mothers and children who had experienced domestic violence. In addition to overseeing clinical work with the residents, I facilitated weekly process-based parenting groups with the mothers, and supported weekly play therapy groups with the children. Before that, I worked for four years as a clinician at a children and family services agency, dealing with complex histories of trauma. During my time there, I gained experience in supporting individuals and families affected by autism and other developmental disorders.

I have also had training and experience in several evidence based practices, including trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TFCBT).

Education and Training

I received my bachelor’s degree in ethics and political philosophy from Brown University, and my master’s degree from Antioch University, where I studied clinical psychology with a specialization in child studies. I trained as both a family therapist and as a play therapist for three years at the Julia Ann Singer Center on the Los Angeles campus of Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services.
