About
NOTE: Providing TeleHealth/video sessions ONLY.
I love helping adults, minors and couples by providing psychotherapy because I can see the positive impact that treatment has on individuals and their families. I enjoy witnessing moments where people obtain insight about themselves and can make positive changes for their lives. As a psychologist, one of the most satisfying parts of treatment for me is towards the end, when people acknowledge how much they have grown and that, most importantly, the changes are palpable.
Our perceptions of the world impact our mood and the choices we make. At times our perceptions need to be challenged and examined in therapy. I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with people in this very personal journey. Treatment is a challenging and fun adventure which can ultimately be rewarding to those who are truly invested.
As a bilingual psychologist, I understand the impact that culture has on our lives and thus on our perceptions of the world. I am fluent in Spanish and provide services in Spanish. I am also passionate about integrating religion/spirituality into treatment when this component is important to people. Due to my own life experiences and working with multicultural issues, I have an understanding of the challenges that people face and how to treat them.
Certifications and Expertise
I am a bilingual (English/Spanish), licensed psychologist with expertise in the area of trauma. I have worked with different populations who have experienced a variety of trauma, as well as symptoms of depression and anxiety. While working with them, I have seen how engaging the family is important for successful treatment. I also work with couples on marital/relationship issues, using the differentiation model, which allows people to have a relationship with themselves and, at the same time, with their partner.
Education and Training
I have a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) and a Masters Degree in Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. I am trained in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), which are both trauma treatment modalities for different age groups. CPP is a treatment modality for the 0-5 population while TFCBT is for children and teens. I am also trained in individual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a modality that challenges a person’s perspectives, and Crisis Oriented Recovery Services (CORS), a treatment modality used when people seek treatment due to an ongoing crisis. I also have training in Seeking Safety (SS), a modality used when people use substances.
